The Force Isn’t Too Strong With This One

Star Wars: The Clone Wars comes out today. I really haven’t talked about it before and there’s a reason for it. While the Star Wars fanboy in me urges everyone to go out and see it five times, the skeptical, cheap Jew in me realizes that this isn’t the Star Wars film we’ve been waiting for.
We do get to see Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin fight against relentless droid armies. We do get to see Anakin’s first apprentice, sweet, unsure of herself and wholly unlike that other one . But, the whole movie is in a cartoony-CG-Gendy Tartovsky format that seems a little rushed. Just so we’re clear, Gendy Tartovsky did an excellent job with his Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network. Excellent. But now George Lucas, the man we’re all forced to love and hate, has essentially stolen his animation style and plans to create his own Cartoon Network show. In an interview I heard with Darth Lucas a while ago, he said something to the effect of, since he’s already making a Star Wars TV-series sure to generate a lot of hype, he might as well make a movie too and milk his fans for all they’re worth. I’m summarizing.
Recent reviews seem to confirm my suspicions, so while I’m not telling you to boycott the film, just keep in mind that you won’t be amazed. For your perusal:
