You guys are all caught up on this season of 24 , right? Good, then this isn’t a spoiler.

This is a tragedy.

At 8:11:54 PM on. . . whatever day it’s supposed to be, one of the last great American heroes of our generation died in a cloud of napalm and a belief that freedom can never be crushed in the hearts of the free. Bill Buchanan , the specialest Special Agent in Charge of CTU Los Angeles, sacrificed himself to save the lives of countless White House staff and a female version of Hillary Clinton.

As we hastily celebrate the crisis averted at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, let us have a moment of silence for this hero among heroes.

Bill Buchanan, you will be missed.
