It’s Not Easy Being Green

As long as we’re getting excited for Green Lantern: First Flight , the first animated Green Lantern movie ever, we might as well get our hopes up with more rumors about a live-action film following the adventures of the space cops of Sector 2814.
The Movie Blog reports that a Green Lantern movie has the green light to start pre-production and Warner Brothers will be scouting for locations in Australia sometime soon. The proposed film will follow the story of Hal Jordan (yay!) and will take a much lighter tone than the cash cow known as The Dark Knight. This is good news, because although Jordan’s life has been filled with countless tragedies, the Green Lantern series itself doesn’t have much of an inherent darkness (it must be the cute alien squirrels ).
Thanks to our friend joshwmc for the fake teaser poster above. And now for the fake teaser trailer:

Who wouldn’t be excited for this movie to come out? I just hope that they pick the right guy for the job. The perfect Green Lantern will be Sam Witwer from Smallville. I know you must be thinking that I am crazy but just look at him. He has the face and build for the role. He is in about his late 20s or early 30s which makes him even more perfect for the part. He has acting experience so its not like another Brandon Routh incident will reoccur. If not him then I guess Chris Pine is the best rumored choice, but he is not a better one than Sam Witwer. If Pine was given the role he would be paid a ridiculous amount of money and everyone will view him as Captain Kirk, not Green Lantern. Pine also looks nothing like the Green Lantern…
I have many more reasons why he should play the Green Lantern. I am so confident in this that I have even written a petition. Here’s the link, read it and sign before you leave, I’m sure you will agree with me:

I’m still not convinced. If he were playing Green Lantern on Smallville I might consider this, but I don’t see him as any GL. Pine actually does have a look that I think could work. But it’s still far too early to talk seriously about casting.
